My first month back in Australia was fairly uneventful compared to my hectic life in England, however it was fantastic to catch up with family and friends before returning to work. The day I arrived was a clear sunny day, so Mum and I headed off to Seymour for a picnic lunch. The next day was Sunday, so Mum and I went to church as normal. Afterwards, there was surprise morning tea - Australian style with koala biscuits, lamingtons, Twisties, Anzac biscuits, etc. In the evening, friends came over for a pizza and games night- Mum and Mark's team won every time!! Monday was a public holiday so Mum had the day off work and we went bowling at the new bowling alley in Epping. She won the first game and I won the second. The next weekend Heather and Hans arrived from Queensland and we invited them for dinner along with Fr Martin, Sue, Tom, Jemma and Andrew. I also went car shopping and bought myself a new Mazda 2 - it's great! And yes, I have been back to work; I had to do a week of boring office duties before heading off to Sydney for my training and exams. It wasn't all work and no play though as I caught up with Bradley and John at Darling Harbour. My real roster starts in July, with plenty of overnight stops in Perth and Darwin which I'm pleased about - anything to get away from the horrible Victorian winter!
